Nearby Ilfracombe is a charming town in the North Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Renowned for its dramatic coastline and landscape, it is a popular all year round destination.  There has been a port here since the 12th century and stories of smugglers and shipwrecks are plentiful. On the south side of the working harbour you can buy seafood fresh from the trawlers.

Also on the quay side is Ilfracombe’s latest ‘attraction’, Damien Hirst’s ‘Verity’ sculpture. Standing 20.25m from plinth to tip of sword, Verity is taller than the Angel of the North and weighs 25 tonnes.

There are trips to Lundy Island, or coastal cruises along the coast including seal and wildlife safari and white water adventure. Boats can be chartered for sea fishing or why not have a row in one of the Gigs at their regular gig ' taster' events.

In Ilfracombe, you will find the famous Tunnel Beaches, only accessible by tunnel excavated by hand in the 1820's

Watermouth is an ideal base for a cycling or walking holiday. The Tarka Trail (an old railway line, now a cycle path) is a popular route and the North Devon Coastal path, which is part of the South West Coastal Path is just minutes away. Exmoor, with all of its walks and cycle routes is only a twenty minute drive away.

Some of the regions finest golf courses are within a short drive of Ilfracombe offering a challenge for golfers of any experience. The Royal North Devon course is the oldest links course in the country.
